Sally Field has been cast in a regular role in ABC’s new fall drama Brothers & Sisters. Field will play Calista Flockhart’s mother in the show.
Field replaces Betty Buckley, who was originally cast in the role. Field’s recent television work includes a recurring role since 2000 on NBC’s E.R. Brothers & Sisters stars Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal), Ron Rifkin (Alias) and Rachael Griffiths (Six Feet Under). It focuses on Flockhart’s character, Kitty Walker, and her four adult siblings in the wake of the sudden death of their father (played in the pilot by Tom Skerritt).
ABC has programmed Brothers & Sisters in the prime Sunday night 10 p.m. slot behind Desperate Housewives, the time slot that launched ABC’s hit Grey’s Anatomy.
The show is from Touchstone Television. It is produced by Ken Olin (Thirtysomething, Alias) and Broadway playwright Jon Robin Baitz.

• • • Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart join Sean Connery for night of glory • • •
When they teamed up on the 1989 adventure Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, Sean Connery and Harrison Ford spent most of their time evading capture by Nazi soldiers. The two actors were enjoying rather more amicable company on Thursday night, however – namely their respective partners Michele Roquebrune and Calista Flockhart.
The two men were reunited in Los Angeles when the iconic Scottish actor was honoured with the American Film Institute's lifetime achievement award. A roll-call of Hollywood's elite gathered for the glitzy event, with a series of the industry's biggest stars taking turns to pay tribute to the 75-year-old legend.

CALISTA FLOCKHART ate just a can of ravioli a day when she was a struggling actress in New York City. The former ALLY MCBEAL star's brother sent her a supply to keep her going, and she insists the pasta parcels still trigger hungry memories. She says, "There was one time when I was in New York and my brother was living in Connecticut. "We were both really broke and much too proud to call our parents and so he sent me a case of ravioli. "He was just being nice, and not because I was starving. I only ate one can of ravioli a day."

Actress CALISTA FLOCKHART is philosophical about constantly being criticised for being thin in image-obsessed Hollywood. The slender 41-year-old is tired of insisting she can be skinny and healthy simultaneously, and now takes jibes in her stride. She says, "I'm trying to have a sense of humour about it. "There was a time when I was really hurt and frightened by it and thought, 'How did this get out of control?' "It was like a runaway train I didn't start and couldn't stop. "If you're naturally thin, and you're healthy, there are certain people in the world who are going to be p**sed off about it. "Either way, you just can't win."

Former "Ally McBeal" star Calista Flockhart will return to primetime next season in the ABC family soap "Brothers & Sisters," which also stars Rachel Griffiths.
"Brothers" was one of four dramas to get the network's greenlight Friday.
